Councillors fight to have barriers installed along dangerous Collier Row junctions.

Collier Row Lane was closed earlier this morning following a collision where a car overturned on its roof. Emergency service members including the air ambulance attended.

Local Councillor Dilip Patel has been working non stop with residents to try and get this matter resolved as quickly as possible after the spate of accidents and would like to see barriers installed there and along White Hart Lane and Mawney Road at the junction of Walmer Close.

Councillor Patel who was formerly the borough’s most respected and successful Mayor, told the Havering Daily: “Especially in the past I have requested to put measures to slow the traffic down on that corner there, but TFL have said it’s not necessary.

“I know of three accidents along that corner in the last few years including cars going in the garden of the house on the corner. Recently a car went into the metal barrier few months ago at night.

“I have also requested that barriers be installed along White Hart Lane/ Mawney Road at the junction of Walmer Close. I have been working on this non stop with Councillor Frost to try and resolve this but tfl have turned us down.”

Conservative GLA member Keith Prince was contacted by Councillor Patel to help resolve this issue. He told the Havering Daily: “I am more than happy to work with Councillor Patel and Havering Council to see if we can implement some safety measures in the area.”
