The Havering Daily has set up a campaign to help feed children who receive free school meals during the half term holidays. We have joined forces with The Fat Pizza based in Elm Park who will provide a free pizza a day for children who receive free school meals in Havering.
The Fat Pizza are known for their generosity having provided free pizzas to hospital staff throughout the three months of lockdown. This amazing business has not only supported our NHS Workers during the pandemic but is now stepping up to the mark to provide free pizza’s for the borough’s children.
Sunny who owns The Fat Pizza with his wife Ripu told the Havering Daily: “Children shouldn’t be hungry, what more can I see really. We have seen the incredible work Marcus Rashford has done and how he highlighted this very important issue. We are pleased to be able to help.”
The Dagenham and Rainham MP Jon Cruddas has given his support to our campaign and told the Havering Daily: “Great work by The Fat Pizza in Elm Park to provide free pizzas to local children from hard pressed families over the half term school break is a wonderful act of generosity and support for the local community of Elm Park. I want to give my thanks to The Fat Pizza.”
Havering’s Leader of the Council Councillor Damian White has also added his support to this campaign. He told the Havering Daily: “Havering Council will be running a scheme to provide support for families whose children receive free school meals. Havering Council is standing behind families that need support and will be providing them with the support they require. We are in the process of contacting parents now and working out how best to help them and make sure no child goes without food.”
Havering Community is stepping up to the mark to support families in need and make sure no child goes hungry.
Well done to The Fat Pizza for being Havering Heroes.
