Pauline Payet, pro tennis player and social media star

A Journey of Determination:

Rising Through the Ranks Pauline Payet’s ascent in the tennis world, from her roots in Reunion Island to achieving her career-best ranking of 577th in 2014, reflects a journey marked by determination and perseverance. In her own words, Payet describes the challenges she faced and the triumphs she experienced along the way: “Le meilleur classement? Donc moi en fait je suis réunionnaise de base, donc pour progresser, j’ai quitté la réunion et du coup je suis arrivée toute seule en métropole pour m’entraîner ici. Et voilà, c’est vrai que ça n’a pas été simple, y a eu pas mal de galères, y a eu aussi des super bons moments. Positifs et… Du coup, j’ai grappillé petit à petit, j’ai commencé à faire des tournois…”

Empowering the Next Generation:

Transition to Coaching After her successful career as a professional player, Payet found herself drawn to coaching, driven by a desire to share her wealth of knowledge and experience. She elaborates on this transition, shedding light on her passion for guiding aspiring tennis players and contributing to their development: “Ça a été quelque chose de naturel, je dirais, parce que j’avais toujours eu à cœur et envie de partager tout ce que j’avais appris et toute mon expertise acquise pendant toutes ces années.”

Breaking Stereotypes:

Making Waves on Social Media Venturing into the realm of social media was a decision motivated by encouragement and a desire to challenge stereotypes. Despite initial reservations, Payet embraced the opportunity to promote women’s tennis content in the French-speaking community and beyond: “Alors pourquoi j’ai commencé? Parce que on me disait toujours, ‘Pauline, tu passes super bien la caméra, tu devrais te lancer sur les réseaux, ça marcherait bien.'”

Shaping the Future:

Vision for Women’s Tennis Looking ahead, Payet envisions a future where women’s tennis receives equal recognition and representation. With a goal to build one of the largest tennis communities in France and inspire more women and girls to embrace the sport, Payet aims to challenge stereotypes and elevate the status of women’s tennis: “L’idée ce serait de créer une des plus grosses communautés de tennis en France et surtout aussi motiver les femmes, les filles à se mettre au tennis… et aussi mettre en lumière beaucoup plus le tennis féminin que ça soit chez les femmes mais aussi dans le monde masculin.”

Fun and Games:

The “Tu Préfères” Segment and Tennis Quiz The interview with Payet took an entertaining turn with the inclusion of a “Tu Préfères” segment and a challenging tennis quiz. Payet’s responses showcased her preferences and knowledge of tennis history, players, and tournaments, adding a delightful touch to the conversation. You will be able to see this exclusive content on my personal tiktok account @pierreontour and on Pauline Payet’s one @paulinepayet_tennis.
