A restaurant in Romford town centre has received the Food Standards Agency’s lowest rating for food hygiene.
Top Flavour Pizza Grillish & Hot Gourmet Burger and Pizza, in South Street, was visited by inspectors on June 20 who found that the venue requires “major improvements” on all of its three inspection criteria.
These include hygienic food handling, cleanliness and condition of facilities and the management of food safety.
In the hygienic handling of food, inspectors assess “preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage”.

Inspectors also assess layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control as well as checks to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat and evidence that staff know about food safety.
The restaurant received an overall ‘zero’ food hygiene rating.
But that does not stand for the quality of the food, customer service, culinary skills of the makers, presentation of food and comfort of the venue.
The restaurant declined to comment when contacted by the Recorder.
Romford’s Apex Food Store and fish retailer Romford Fish are two other Havering businesses that also hold a ‘zero’ food hygiene rating.
